Abstract

A bioprocess can change viable cells and their components into particular chemicals, such as biofuels, polymers, food, and feed additives. Nowadays, scientists are highly interested in producing chemicals in a sustainable and permanent manner due to the world population growth and reduction of nonrenewable energy sources such as coal and oil. Bioprocessing is a new method that uses microbial cells for chemicals synthesis. Recently, single-cell cultivation microfluidic tools have been utilized by researchers for bioprocess, and that could be a great tool for bioprocess development in the future. In this work, micromixers and micropumps for bioprocessing applications are outlined.

Keywords: Biofuel, Bioprocess, Centrifugal microfluidic, Microfluidic device, Micromixer, Micropump.
